Description

This elegant Swedish serpentine chest of drawers, circa 1880, is crafted in richly figured mahogany with a deep serpentine top and moulded edge. Fitted with four graduating drawers that open on the key, it features hand-carved escutcheons, canted corners with carved acanthus detailing and bun feet to the front. Recently re-polished in our workshop, it retains a good colour and patina, with one small area of restoration to a lower side and minor surface marks.

FINE QUALITY ELEGANT SWEDISH 19TH CENTURY COMMODE FITTED WITH 4 GRADUATING DRAWERS WHICH OPEN ON THE KEY, WHICH IS TYPICAL FOR SCANDINAVIAN FURNITURE OF THIS PERIOD.

TOP SURFACE WITH A DEEP SERPENTINE SHAPE AND MOULDED EDGE. FLAME MAHOGANY DRAWER FRONTS WITH HAND CARVED ESCUTHEONS. CANTED CORNERS WITH APPLIED CARVED ACANTHUS LEAF DETAILING. STANDING ON FLAT BUN FEET TO THE FRONT AND BLOCK FEET TO THE REVERSE.

GOOD RICH COLOUR AND PATINA, RECENTLY RE-POLISHED IN OUR WORKSHOP. 1 SMALL AREA OF RESTORATION TO 1 LOWER SIDE, MINOR SURFACE MARKS
