Description

This rare pair of rural Swedish side tables, circa 1870, was found on our travels around Sweden. Hand painted in traditional colours using rag work techniques, each table has a sailing two-plank pine top over a green base with hand painted veining, a single drawer with carved knob handle and straight legs. With expected minor shrinkage and losses to the paintwork, they remain in original condition and would work equally well as lamp or bedside tables.

RARE PAIR OF RURAL SWEDISH SIDE TABLES, WHICH WE FOUND ON OUR TRAVELS AROUND SWEDEN. HAND PAINTED IN TRADITIONAL COLOURS USING TRADITIONAL METHODS OF HAND APPLIED RAG WORK DESIGN.

OVER SAILING RECTANGULAR 2 PLANK PINE TOPS, IN A GREEN BASE PAINT WITH HAND PAINTED VEINING AND TONE. BELOW WHICH EACH TABLE HAS A SINGLE DRAWER WITH CARVED KNOB HANDLE, STANDING ON STRAIGHT LEGS. THESE HAVE BEEN HAND PAINTED TO SIMULATE WOOD GRAIN.

IDEAL FOR USE AS A PAIR OF LAMP TABLES OR EVEN AS BEDSIDE TABLES.

EXPECTED MINOR SHRINKAGE AND LOSSES TO PAINTWORK. THERE IS SOME LOSSES TO THE CORNER OF THE DRAWER FRONTS, BUT THIS DOESN’T EFFECT THEIR FUNCTION AND ITS IMPORTANT TO KEEP THEM IN THEIR ORIGINAL CONDITION.
