Description

This early 19th century painted pine blanket box, dated 1828, is a fine example of traditional Swedish storage, made from plentiful pine and hand decorated. Painted in plum red with a simulated grain effect and initialed K.E.D on the front, it retains its original metalwork with a working lock and key. The lid opens to reveal a plain interior with a fitted candle box; there is expected minor shrinkage and clear fading to the paintwork, but the box remains structurally sound.

RECTANGULAR BOX WITH A FLAT LID, WHICH MAKES IT IDEAL TO DOUBLE UP AS A COFFEE TABLE. HAND PAINTED IN A PLUM RED WITH SIMULATED GRAIN EFFECT OVER THE TOP. INITIALED ON THE FRONT K.E.D AND DATED 1828.

ORIGINAL METAL WORK. WORKING LOCK AND KEY. LID OPENS TO REVEAL A PLAIN INTERIOR WITH FITTED CANDLE BOX.

EXPECTED MINOR SHRINKAGE BUT STRUCTURALLY SOUND. CLEAR FADING TO PAINTWORK.
