ELM MID 20TH CENTURY SCANDINAVIAN LOW OPEN BOOKCASE CIRCA 1950.
GOOD QUALITY SWEDISH MID CENTURY MODERN BOOKCASE WITH STRONG ART DECO INFLUENCES.
VENEERED AND SHAPED IN A BEAUTIFULLY GRAINED LIGHT ELM, WHICH WRAPS ITSELF AROUND THE OUTER SURFACE. BELOW THE TOP SURFACE ARE 2 BURR ELM DRAWERS WITH BRASS ROPE HANDLES, FLANKED EITHER SIDE BY AN OPEN APERTURE FOR STORAGE. MAIN STORAGE AREA FOR BOOKS HAS A SINGLE ADJUSTABLE SHELF. SINGLE DOOR CUPBOARD TO THE LEFT HAND OF THE PIECE CONTAINS A FURTHER SHELF. STANDING ON TAPERING FEET.
MINOR SURFACE MARKS TO TOP SURFACE, FEINT VENEER AGE SPLITS, SMALL AREAS OF RESTORATION TO PLUG BRACKET HOLES FROM PREVIOUS ADJUSTMENTS.
