FINE QUALITY CHEST OF DRAWERS OF GRAND PROPORTIONS MADE OUT OF VERY HEAVY PITCH PINE.

FITTED WITH 5 DRAWERS IN A 2 OVER 3 DESIGN AND LATER PAINTED CIRCA 1910 VERY MUCH IN A GUSTAVIAN REVIVAL TASTE. INTERIOR OF THE DRAWERS HAS BEEN PAINTED A CONTRASTING BLUE.  RECTANGULAR TOP WITH MOULDED EDGE AND GILT DETAILING, THIS IS ECHOED ON EACH OF THE DRAWER FRONTS.  TOP 2 DRAWERS FITTED WITH WORKING LOCKS AND KEY, OTHER DRAWERS HAVE HAD THEIR LOCKS REMOVED AND BLANKED OVER.  RAISED ON 4 TAPERED LEGS.

SURFACE MARKS AND LOSSES TO WOODWORK ON TOP SURFACE.  LATER PAINT WITH CRAQUELURE.  UNDERSTANDABLE RESTORATION TO FEET AND COLOUR MATCHED REPAIRS.  VERY HEAVY CHEST WHICH HAS STOOD THE TEST OF TIME AND READY FOR EVERYDAY USE.

CIRCULAR BIRCH TOP WITH STRUNG BLACK BORDER , FITTED WITH 4 DRAWERS, 2 DEEP AND 2 SHORT EACH WITH THE SAME STRINGING AND BLACK SHIELD SHAPE KEY HOLE.  TOP IS PEGGED TO THE BASE AND HAS FREE MOVEMENT TO ROTATE.  RAISED ON A COLUMN AND PLATFORM BASE AND 4 BEAUTIFULLY CARVED LIONS PAW FEET.

BURR ELM TOP SURFACE, WHICH WE COMMISSIONED TO BE HAND MADE USING THE EXISTING TOP.  3 DRAWERS, 2 FITTED WITH ORNATE BRASS RING HANDLES, AND A MIDDLE DRAWER THAT OPENS ON THE KEY.  THIS DRAWER HAS BEEN FINELY INLAID SHOWING A CORNUCOPIA AND FLORALS USING VARIOUS EXOTIC WOODS.  ALL RAISED ON 4 SPLAYED LEGS.

GOOD QUALITY DUTCH WRITING SLOPE PRESENTED IN ORIGINAL CONDITION, COMPRISING OF 2 PARTS.

TOP SECTION MADE IN OAK WITH INLAY TO THE SIDES, FRONT AND FALL.  HINGED LID OPENS TO REVEAL A FULLY FITTED INTERIOR OF INLAID DRAWERS WHICH LOOK LIKE THE DAY THEY WERE MADE DUE TO NOT BEING EXPOSED TO DAYLIGHT.  2 DRAWERS EITHER SIDE OF A LOCKABLE CENTRAL TABERNACLE, WHICH CONTAINS A FURTHER 2 DRAWERS.  DRAWER TO THE BASE OF THE SAME MANOR.   RAISED ON 4 TURNED LEGS UNITED BY A SHAPED STRETCHER.

OBVIOUS MARKS/STAINING AND OLD REPAIRS TO WOODWORK.  STRUCTURALLY STRONG AND STANDS TRUE, FINE QUALITY OCCASIONAL PIECE READY FOR THE HOME.

TOP SURFACE WITH MOULDED AND SIDES OF THE SAME GRAIN, FITTED WITH 4 DEEP DRAWERS.  TOP DRAWER PULLS OUT AND FRONT DROPS DOWN TO FORM A WRITING SURFACE AND ALLOW ACCESS TO THE FULLY FITTED PINE AND BIRCH ROOT INTERIOR OF DRAWERS ARRANGED AROUND A CENTRAL TABERNACLE.  EACH DRAWER FITTED WITH ORNATE BRASS HANDLES AND ESCUTHEON.  RAISED ON 4 BLOCK FEET.

LATER APPLIED HARDWARE CIRCA 1900, IN LINE WITH FASHION, AS SWEDISH CHESTS OF THIS PERIOD NEVER HAD HANDLES.  LATER REPLACED BLOCK FEET AND LOWER MOULDING WHICH HAS BEEN DONE TO A HIGH STANDARD.  MINOR RESTORATIONS TO WOODWORK.  RECENTLY RE-POLISHED IN OUR WORKSHOP AND READY FOR EVERYDAY USE.
